About the Organization

Biobank Väst is the biobank of the Västra Götaland region and a competence center for biobanking issues. We are placed under the area of research, development, education, and innovation (FoUUI) at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. Our operations include advising on regulatory issues related to biobanking, processing biobank agreements and applications, as well as services for the collection, handling, storage, and extraction of biobank samples. We administer all biobank sample collections in the region, and all work is carried out within the framework of our quality management system based on ISO 20387, which guarantees high quality and traceability. We collaborate closely with Core Facilities at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, and are part of the national infrastructure Biobank Sweden.

Biobank Väst currently has about 25 employees with diverse backgrounds and tasks, ranging from researchers, project managers, system developers, biologists, and biomedical analysts. We are now in need of a project manager for our regulatory biobank center (RBC) to work with regulatory issues.

About the Position

In each healthcare region, there is a regional biobank center (RBC) that serves as expert and competence support for all affected by biobanking laws – healthcare providers, researchers, pharmaceutical companies, and the public. The RBC is responsible for providing advice, processing biobanking matters, and ensuring that the collection, storage, and use of samples comply with laws and regulations.

As a project manager at Biobank Väst, you will be a key person in this work. You will work in an innovative environment where your expertise makes a real difference and where you contribute to supporting care and research within the Västra Götaland region. You will provide expert support on regulatory issues and work closely with researchers, study personnel, authorities, and partners.

Your main responsibilities:

• Process biobank applications for clinical drug trials and performance studies and other research (regionally and nationally)
• Provide regulatory advice for clinical trials and studies handling biobank samples
• Contribute to the development of processes and routines for regulatory matters
• Handle inquiries from residents, academia, industry, and healthcare

About You

We place great emphasis on personal qualities. We are looking for someone who is structured and quality-conscious with an eye for detail and the ability to ensure that everything is correct. You are communicative and service-oriented, meeting various needs with responsiveness and professionalism, and you find it easy to build good relationships. You enjoy working independently but also appreciate collaboration and contributing to the team's development.

We would like you to have:

• A minimum of a master's degree in Life Science, law, or another relevant field
• Basic legal knowledge
• Experience in clinical research
• Excellent ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing

Meritorious:

• Further education in clinical trials
• Experience in biobanking, project management, and digital tools
• Knowledge of academic and investigator-initiated studies
